Under Construction 7

Yo! Have you checked out the Thesis Theme yet? I’d love to explain how optimized, detailed, and easily-customizable Thesis is, but honestly, I know that you’re going to benefit the most from the amazing community of theme users. Smart people offering up tailored solutions to common theme problems? Now that’s serious value.

On Saturday afternoon, I had an irresistible urge to start on a new design for this site. Although it’s still not complete, I couldn’t resist busting out what I already had. Here’s what you get: one incomplete home page, and individual archive pages that rock the house ;)
Let me know what you guys think! I’m gonna try and get the rest of this thing wrapped up by the end of the weekend. I can’t wait to move in!

It’s looking GREAT! I think it’s a very nice improvement. Seriously, it’s freakin awesome.

Hahaha, thanks dude. Besides the fact that the old site sucked, the primary reasons for the new design were that I:

  • wanted to experiment with a different method of content presentation on the homepage, this time involving more visual elements like thumbnail pics
  • wanted to encourage readers to delve deeper into the site instead of hitting the home page and hollerin’ “cya”
  • wanted a place that I felt comfortable sticking my portfolio

Hence, Pearsonified version 2.0.

I love the colourful presentation and efficient layout… although I swear the site looks like something I’d see on the front of a “Martha Stewart” magazine..

But that’s not a bad thing. It’s a good thing. And it all puts me to shame.
