The Art of Presentation - 0
I was all jazzed up to see and hear the presentations in the exhibit entitled “AJAX: What Do I Need to Know?” After thirty minutes of ugly slideshows, improperly tuned microphones, and piss poor public speaking, I decided I’d had enough, and I retreated to the much more interesting exhibit, “We Got Naked, Now What?”

Okay, so I have a quick confessional to make. Before arriving here, I didn’t look at any of the presentations that were on the docket for SXSW, so I had absolutely no idea where I’d be going or what I’d be doing on any particular day. Really nice planning for my industry’s biggest shindig, don’t you think?

We’re in Austin! - 1
After much turbulence and senseless delays on a flying vascillator puddle jumper, Courtney and I arrived in Austin for South by Southwest at about 5:30 EST. We were able to upgrade our rental car from a Ford Focus to a Pontiac Grand Prix (without DUBs, tho - *sigh*), but the one catch is that I can’t drive the car because I’m not yet 25. This works out great for me, though, because I get to ride around with my face pasted to the windows while I ogle the new terrain.

SXSW: He Went That-a-Way - 1
Tomorrow morning at 11:10 am EST, I’ll be boarding a big ole jet airliner and heading to Austin, TX, for this year’s South By Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Festival! I didn’t get into web work until October of 2005, and I wasn’t really a “professional” until January of 2006. A lot has changed in that amount of time, however, and now I’m departing for the festival to join those who are pioneering the web. Although I’m a newbie, I’ll have one distinct advantage over a vast majority of the participants - I’ll be able to parade around my uber hot girlfriend.

We’re staying at the Aladdin, and yesterday, Courtney’s brother (who’s here with us), said that he saw Britney Spears down at the craps tables in the morning. Nobody thought too much of it at the time, and I had all but forgotten about it until today.
